Matt Thorne, a novelist and screenwriter currently writing a critical study of the pop star Prince, gets together with fellow writer and long-term Prince fan Matthew De Abaitua to discuss their favourite Prince records of the last thirty years. Playing a selection of their favourite Prince tracks—including classics such as ‘Pop Life’ and ‘If I Was Your Girlfriend’ as well as less well-known tracks including ‘Wasted Kisses’ and ‘Xenophobia’—the pair discuss Prince’s career, song-writing style, and their favourite live performances, debating whether the best way to appreciate the artist is through his famous hits or his hidden gems.
And the main thing I’m working on (aside from Prince) is a movie at the moment. It’s an adaptation of one of my books. I’ve co-written the screenplay and it’s coming out at the end of the year, starring Tom Hughes (Cemetery Junction), Ophelia Lovibond (No Strings Attached, Mr.
Popper’s Penguins), Monserrat Lombard (Ashes to Ashes) and Antonia Thomas (Misfits). If you could put a link to the film’s twitter site, as below, that would be great:
